FAE LORE

I. History and Origin

Fae and man used to walk side by side in symbiotic mutualistic relationship. Humans had started to become more prevalent, and the Fae intended to sew the seeds of an alliance with them. For many years they shared in knowledge that one another gathered to gain stance in the world as a whole. It is said that had the two not started working together, neither would have survived to modern day. However, as time began to pass, the tribes of humans became more separate from one another and began inter-conflicts among their specie. The fae were subsequently pulled into the wars and it wasn't long before the humans turned their combined attention to destroy the fae first before resuming their conflicts.

Fae were not designed to be war machines, and as such many of them were slaughtered from the sheer brutality of man. Eventually, the fae retreated deep into the thick and dense jungles, unable to be followed by man. For centuries they made the jungle their home, transforming hidden sections into something called the Fae Wilds. With man's short lifespans, the mere history of their conflict with the fae was forgotten in time and the entire idea of the species were turned into what modern day humans refer to as fairies.

Seeing them safe, the Fae slowly integrated back across different sections of the world, though not congregating in one place with too many of their kind for fear of another war starting. Most Fae can be somewhat cautious of humanity, but their long lives tend to release them of most grudges as they have been a first hand witness to how much humanity has grown in their time of seclusion.

II. Appearance

Unlike popular myth, the Fae are not any shorter than the average human. Fae tend to have extremely flawless and smooth skin and slightly pointed ears. They can retract and extend out their wings at will which have a different appearance between the sexes.

Female Fae's wings tend to be multi-colored or thin looking with more eloquent and beautiful designs decorating them, resembling that of butterfly wings. Male Fae's wings have more dull colors such as black or grey with more imposing and intimidating designs decorating them, resembling that of a moth's wings.

III. Becoming a Fae

Fae are not immortal upon birth, and instead have a similar lifespan to that of a human until they are finished with puberty around the age of 17-24. At this time, the Fae will meet with the Fae Queen and perform a Fae Deal with their people to mature into a fully grown Fae. It is after this deal and finished growth that they become fully immortal.

FAE GUIDELINES

I. Fledgling Fae

Can extrude and retract fae wings from their back which enables them to levitate at will as they are still growing into their wings.
Fae believe that the sun and moon draw the most ancient forms of arcana and thus they draw their abilities from solar and lunar arcana. Similar to Elves, they must draw a symbol in the air with their finger to activate the switch between abilities.
Lunar: Activated by drawing a crescent moon shape in the air. The lunar arcana channels in two ways. The first is a moonbeam which is a silvery blast of hard moonlight which can slam into individuals and send them flying back in the air similar to favur or a powerful gust of wind. The second is illusion creation. These illusions can move and can be up to 8 feet in size, though they cannot physically touch anything.
Solar: Activated by drawing a circle shape in the air. The solar acrana channels by creating hard light constructs out of sunlight. This light is physical to the touch and can take form in many basic shapes based on what the fae imagines. They have the durability of 0.25 tons and can be manipulated by the fae once created. They cannot be any larger than a large fridge.

[li]Has the ability to Fae Step, which allows them to disappear in one spot and reappear in another instantaneously. Essentially allowing them to teleport for all intents and purposes. To do this they must physically take one step forward. If they are unable to do so they will not be able to fae step.

[li]Able to produce Fae Dust from their wings which can be spread onto another living being or beings weighing a combined weight of 300lbs or less to allow them to float weightlessly through the air for a short period of time (10 minutes).[/li]
[li]Does not require food or water to live, but instead needs sunlight

If they do not get enough sunlight, they will become tired and will eventually fall into a deep hibernation.

[li]A Fledgling Fae is much more durable than a normal human. They have superhuman durability (2 tons) unless steel is being used upon them - which weakens them to normal human durability.[/li]

If steel binds them, it drains them of all of their powers.

[li]Can perform Prestidigitation: A general purpose spell that lasts one hour which is used with simple hand movement to accomplish a variety of small tasks such as:[/li]

Creating an illusory object that can fit in the fae’s hand
Creating a small tuft of fire to light a match or fireplace
Dismissing fire; no bigger than a normal campfire
Unlocking a non-magic mechanical lock on a door or object
Changing the color of an object
Creating a harmless sensory effect such as an odd odor, sparks, or a musical note

[li]Can perform a Fae Deal which can be between them and another person, or between two people with the fairy as the mediator. To perform this the two parties must put cut their thumb and press their thumb print into a Fae coin which will bind them to the deal. Once done, the conditions of the deal can be decided, and it is set it place.[/li]

The deal cannot be broken going forward, and if it is, the party responsible for breaking it will instantly die.
