CHERAPHILIM LORE

I. History and Origin

Cheraphilim are angelic-like beings that come from a now extinct race of angels. It is believed in what records could be recovered that when the world was created, originally there were angelic beings which served the gods as their first creations. However, the gods found them to be too perfect to garner enough interest, so they tried again and this time created man. With man came imperfection and sin. The angelic beings attempted to regulate their sin from a distance so as to not lower themselves, but that changed when they saw the daughters of man.

Overcome by passion, the angelic beings laid with the daughters of man, forming a new race of beings which would come to be known as the Cheraphilim and Nephilim. For their acts, the angelic beings were wiped out by the gods, leaving only their children to roam the Earth. These children were unlike their peers, though, and quickly became heroes of legend. It is speculated that some of these children were among the great Greek and Babylonian heroes such as Hercules, Gilgamesh, and Achilles. These are even referenced in the current day Bible as the Nephilim. Most cultures have stories of extraordinary heroes which belongs to these two groups.

The differences between the two comes from their view on the gods. Cheraphilim believe that if they do righteous and good work for those around them and in the world, they may one day ascend back into favor of the gods. Many Cheraphilim seen in modern times are viewed as guardian angels by the humans who believe. Nephilim on the other hand believe in the polar opposite. They see the gods as corrupt and cruel. Their desire is to grow in power and live despite the gods, ignoring their existence and attempting to lead humans away from their perceived slights. Many Nephilim seen in modern times are viewed as demonic spirits by the humans who believe.

II. Appearance

Cheraphilim are normally slightly taller than the average human, standing at 6-7 feet tall when full grown depending on their sex. They are commonly considered very handsome men and very beautiful women due to their angelic ancestors. The vast majority of Cheraphilim have lighter hair colors.

Along with this, Cheraphilim can produce large angelic wings from their back at will which are covered in durable feathers and add to their holy perception. When an angel performs their first selfless miracle, they will garner a glowing halo of light around their head when they extend their wings.

III. Becoming a Cheraphilim

Cheraphilim are created through genetics, though the line has been diluted over centuries of humans breeding with other humans. They are born randomly from a specific DNA strand left in their genetic line that can trace all the way back to the first angelic beings. Once they are born they will not show any signs of being different until around puberty.

The changes that happen through their body at this time activates the DNA strand dormant in the genes and begins the process. Even though it may start at as early as 13, a Cheraphilim won't fully mature until the ages of 17-24. Once fully matured, a Cheraphilim will take their holy vow to the gods on holy ground and they will become a full Cheraphilim.

CHERAPHILIM GUIDELINES

I. Fledgling Cheraphilim

Prestidigitation: A general purpose spell that lasts one hour which is used with simple hand movement to accomplish a variety of small tasks such as:
Creating an illusion object that can fit in the caster's hand
Creating or dismissing a small tuft of fire such as a match or fireplace
Creating a small light to float above the caster much like a lantern
Unlocking a non-magic mechanical lock on a door or object
Changing the color or design of an object
Creating a harmless sensory effect such as an odd odor, sparks, or a musical note

[li]Possesses enhanced strength and durability with peak human speed (0.5 ton strength and durability; Olympic sprinter speed)

[li]Able to produce white angelic wings to fly and assist in combat as if given two extra limbs. These wings also have enhanced durability of their own (0.5 ton)[/li]
[li]Can produce holy light which can temporarily blind those that it impacts (1 minute) and will be super effective against Vampires and Nephilim which cause their skin to burn.[/li]
[li]Holy Blessing: When they make physical contact with another person, they can imbue the person with holy light, granting the person an extra 0.5 ton strength and durability for 10 minutes. It takes 30 minutes to generate enough holy light for this ability to be performed again.[/li]
[li]Holy Empowerment: When they make physical contact with a weapon, they can imbue the weapon with holy light, granting said weapon with the attribute of Superior Edge for 10 minutes. It takes 30 minutes to generate enough holy light for this ability to be performed again.[/li]
[li]Able to calm those who are panicked or afraid by means of touch[/li]
[li]Enhanced healing

Cheraphilim can regenerate from their injuries in less than half the time it would take for a normal human to recover.

[li]Able to perform a healing touch which is capable of curing any wound no matter the severity, but it cannot revive the dead.[/li]

Depending on the severity depends on the amount of time unbroken contact has to be made. For fatal injuries it will take 15 minutes, whereas major injuries will take 10. Anything less than that will heal in less than two minutes.
If concentration or connection is broken, the healing will cease.

II. Mature Cheraphilim

[li]Possesses super strength and durability with enhanced speed (1 ton strength and durability; 40mph if worked up to)

[li]Capable of detecting if someone has negative intentions towards someone or themselves through eye contact[/li]
[li]Can produce holy light which can temporarily blind those that it impacts (1 minute) and will be super effective against Vampires and Nephilim which cause their skin to burn.[/li]
