DRAGONBORN LORE

I. History and Origin

Dragons once roamed the skies of the world. The supreme ruler and apex predator wherever they went. There were three clutches of elemental dragons. The Fire dragons of the south, the Frost dragons of the north, and the Acid dragons of the center. Each had their domain and stayed out of one another's way. In these old times, early humans gave worship to the dragons as their gods. However, as time went on and humans became more advanced, they turned on the dragons and started hunting them for sport. The dragons would burn down town after town of human civilizations, but man was simply to spread out and bred too fast for the dragons to keep up with.

Forced into a corner, the dragons were approached by a trickster being of immense power who offered them salvation; all they had to do was ask. The dragons took the bait and the trickster did save them from extinction. However, it was done in the opposite manner in which the dragons were hoping for. Their bodies were morphed down into an essence which possessed nearby humans, trapping the soul of the dragon in the body of a human. This created the hybrids we know today. Those first Dragonborn spread their seed to the women of their villages which produced the next generation which continued on from there.

II. Appearance

Dragonborn in their normal form look like normal humans, except they tend to have a bit of a temper and their teeth are slight sharper than average. The eyes of a Dragonborn has a direct correlation with the type of dragon they are.

A Dragonborn also has their winged form which consists of large leathery wings, sharp teeth and claws with horns on the side of their head with scales that cover their bodies. The scales of a Dragonborn is dependent on the element they breathe. Each element has three scale variants among the Dragonborn.

III. Becoming a Dragonborn

Dragonborn are created through the genetic breeding of a human with a male Dragonborn. This race is male only and as such they will only produce male heirs from this union. Their scale color and breath reflects that of their father's.

A fledgling Dragonborn will not have the full capabilities of a matured Dragonborn until the ages of 17-24 when they have fully gone through and completed puberty.

DRAGONBORN GUIDELINES

I. Fledgling Dragonborn

Human who can turn into a humanoid-dragon
Male-only species
Prestidigitation: A general purpose spell that lasts one hour which is used with simple hand movement to accomplish a variety of small tasks such as:
Creating an illusion object that can fit in the caster's hand
Creating or dismissing a small tuft of fire such as a match or fireplace
Creating a small light to float above the caster much like a lantern
Unlocking a non-magic mechanical lock on a door or object
Changing the color or design of an object
Creating a harmless sensory effect such as an odd odor, sparks, or a musical note

[li]Enhanced healing

Dragonborn can regenerate from their injuries in less than half the time it would take for a normal human to recover.

[li]Either at will, or when emotions are high, a Dragonborn may turn into their dragon form which includes:[/li]

A tough scale exterior which gives them enhanced strength and durability (0.5 ton). These scales protect from normal blades in slashing damage.
Large leathery wings capable of flight
Dragon tail, horns, as well as teeth and claws as sharp as steel

[li]Dragonborns can summon the element they correspond with in their hands. Though at this age the fledglings can only do a very basic form:[/li]

Red, Gold, Brass - Able to heat their hand up to warm what they touch. If they use it as hot as they can go on another human, it can cause first degree burns.
Purple, Black, Copper - Able to generate an static around their hand. They can use this to give minor charges to electrical devices, and if they charge it up as much as they can they can give small jolts to those they touch.
Blue, Silver, White - Able to chill their hand to cool what they touch. If they use it as cold as they can go on another human, it can cause minor frostbite.

[li]While the are not mature enough to breathe a full element from their mouth yet, they can exhale a gaseous steam which has effects based on their scales:[/li]

Red, Gold, Brass - Able to produce a hot black smoke from their mouth
Purple, Black, Copper - Able to produce a blue smoke with static charges in it. Being hit with it will cause minor shocks to victims.
Blue, Silver, White - Able to produce an icy mist from their mouth that can cause frostbite if exposed for long periods of time, and covered objects in a thin sheet of ice

[li]Immune to all effects of the element they breathe depending on the color of their scales[/li]

Red, Gold, Brass - Immune to heat/fire
Purple, Black, Copper - Immune to shock/lightning
Blue, Silver, White - Immune to cold/frost
