WEREWOLF LORE
I. History and Origin
Werewolves have existed for for thousands of years. There has been many outspoken werewolves in the past, and as such, they now decorate modern day culture and are generally well known as fiction. However, the first werewolf is believed to be traced back to around 750BC to the birth of twins named Romulus and Remus. Having been left for dead on a hill as newborns, the two baby boys were found and nurtured by a she-wolf. Their birth and miraculous survival made them men of renown, attracting them the following of a group of bandits which they used to patrol the local villages. Eventually the twins sought to overthrow a king who had wronged a mutual relative.
After attending a drinking event, Romulus and Remus were ambushed by mercenaries sent by the king to capture them. The two were armed with nothing, but ended up fighting back against the large band of armed men. Romulus was able to escape, but Remus was captured. Pulled away from his brother, he was brought before the king and thrown in the dungeons to rot after being beaten. Remus feared his brother would be a similar fate, so he prayed to the gods to grant him the strength to escape and prevent his brother from being captured. While the gods did not answer, another being did. A trickster being with great power offered Remus the strength he sought, but the warned that should he ever turn against his brother, he would be condemned to a life of monstrosity.
Remus quickly agreed and was granted unrivaled strength, durability, and speed which he used to escape the dungeons where he found his brother Romulus waiting for him. Together they overthrew the king. Afterwards, the two brothers decided to found their own kingdom to prevent any of the failures and suffering of current kingdoms from happening to them again. The two found two large hills; the Palatine Hill and the Aventine Hill. Remus claimed the kingdom should be founded on the Aventine Hill, whereas Romulus preferred the Palatine hill. The two decided they would each build on their own hill with their own people and decide later.
When some time had passed, it became apparent the two tribes were at odds with one another. Romulus and Remus met again and decided they would let the gods decide which hill should be made into the kingdom, and which should be abandoned. Remus saw 6 vultures fly over his hill first, and claimed this was the divine intervention as he saw the birds first. Romulus, however, saw 12 vultures some time after fly over his hill and claimed this was the true divine intervention as he saw the most birds. The two brothers turned against one another and engaged in a brutal battle with one another. Romulus, pushed into a corner lashed out and caught Remus in the gut, seemingly killing his own brother.
Remus felt himself close to death and colder than ever. Romulus was above him, but as the sun rose, his brother abandon him on the hill. He laid there for most of the day until some of his own tribe came and hoisted his body back to his base atop the hill. That night, when the moon was full, Remus took a monstrous form filled with blood lust and anger. It took twelve men to keep him contained until the morning. Just as the trickster had warned, Remus had become a cursed creature of the night; a slave of the moon. He was the first werewolf, and turned many of his camp into one with him. Together, they abandoned the hills and moved along as a pack to explore and spread across the earth.

II. Appearance
Werewolves have three major forms. The first is their human form. In this form, they look no different than the average human being. Though some take a more rough and ragged stance on appearance, believing in their more bestial side even in their normal form.
Their second form his called a half-transformation. In this form they look majority human, except for a few wolf-like features. Their nails become sharp claws along with their teeth becoming sharp canines. Their eyes will have a glowing hue and their body will adopt a more bestial face with hair partially covering their body. Their ears will also come to a point, though they will retain a skin exterior over it.
Their third form is their full transformation. In this form they become a full werewolf. They will grow a large muscular form covered in hair, and will be able to run on all fours, or move bipedal if need be. They will get sharp canines, claws, and a tough hide beneath their fur.
Werewolves can also show flash their wolf eyes at will. There are three different hues to a werewolf's eyes depending on their history. If a werewolf is a normal beta (the most common type) their wolf eyes will be a glowing yellow. If a werewolf has taken an innocent life, whether on accident or on purpose, their wolf eyes will be a glowing blue. Finally, if a werewolf is the alpha of their pack, their eyes will be a glowing red.

III. Becoming a Werewolf
Werewolves, common to myth, are created through a bite. Although it has the chance to be passed down genetically, it is very rare. The most common method is by giving the human the bite. The bite will infect them with the werewolf curse, but nothing more will happen until the next full moon. During the interim period, the bitten human will experience painful headaches, nausea fits, and cold sweats. Once the full moon comes, the bitten human will need to look at the full moon at its peak. As they do, they will be forced to do their first full transformation, which is commonly a wild and ravenous one. If they do not look at the next full moon after being bitten, the bite's effects will wear off and the human will not become a werewolf.
Virtually all werewolves tend to form into packs with a centralized leader known as an alpha. These packs are what keep one another safe and in check and most werewolves without any pack do not end up surviving for long. Alphas are capable of exerting pressure on betas in their pack to do what they want, though it isn't mind control. Alphas can be challenged by another beta and if bested, they will lose alpha status and said beta will take the mantle.
Finally, if a human is turned to a werewolf, they won't be considered a full werewolf until they have fully completed puberty. This normally happens around the age range of 17-24. If they are younger than that, the werewolf curse won't be able to take hold fully and thus they will only get a fraction of a full werewolf's power. These young werewolves are called Wolf Cubs. Wolf Cubs are normally lone children in their human life and get adopted into a pack to learn that packs customs and traditions before becoming a full fledged werewolf.
