BANSHEE LORE
I. History and Origin
Banshees have been around as long as spellcasters due to their intimate relationship with the like. Known as weeping women, Banshees are commonly seen throughout lore as an omen of foreboding death. The first Banshee was recorded in modern day Ireland, and as such has become associated with Irish mythology.
It is said that the Banshee scream will bring about death, though it is mostly misinterpreted. Instead, a Banshee will warn of death, but seldom kills for itself. Banshees have also been mistaken for demons, necromancers, and cultists due to their other abilities. While Necromancers do not actually exist, it is high speculated among mythic scholars that the term was created due to humans seeing or experiencing the capabilities of a Banshee.

II. Appearance
Banshees have two forms that they are able to take part in. Banshees consist only of females and their normal look resembles that of a normal human with the exception of one key feature. No matter the age or race of the Banshee, they always have silky white hair.
In their second form they take the shape of a wraith. When this occurs, the Banshee will grow dark circles around their eyes, and a billowing black robe which covers them almost completely. Their hands will become bony and their eyes will glow a very dark purple.

III. Becoming a Banshee
Banshees are unable to reproduce, so they are not technically born. Instead, Banshees are formed when a female spellcaster has a traumatic near-death experience. Once their heart stops beating, should they be resuscitated, they have a chance of coming back as a Banshee. This is a rare occurrence, but when it happens the spellcaster will wake up unable to use their old magic form. Instead in the days to come, they will begin to adopt the Banshee's abilities. One of the first noticeable differences is the spellcasters hair slowly turning white.
The level of power the banshee has is directly correlated to the level of power the spellcaster was at before their near-death experience. Fledgling Banshees will grow in power to Mature Banshees, but that normally correlates with the age range of 17-24. Once that age is reached, the once spellcaster will feel their power grow and unlock into new abilities to utilize.
